Experience the Berlin Wall like never before with a virtual reality visit to the death strip. Starting at our shop in Alexanderplatz you will bike with your guide to the Berlin Wall Memorial at Bernauer Strasse. Your guide will show you how the memorial fits into the former death strip as you view a recreated section of the Berlin Wall. While there, take a dive into the past using VR headsets designed to immerse you in the location as you journey through time. Round out the experience by sharing a craft beer with your guide at one of the areas coolest bars.
Fat Tire Approved: As part of our commitment to bringing you the best travel options to supplement our tours, this fantastic experience is operated by a trusted local partner.
You will be biking from the starting point at our shop in Alexanderplatz to the memorial.
The ride is relaxed and easy. You will need to sign out the bike and return it to the shop after the tour.
Our fully-stocked shop is centrally located at the base of the giant TV Tower (Fernsehturm) in Alexanderplatz. Tours meet just around the corner in front of the entrance to the tower. You will see our guides there with our large, red flags.
The meeting point is at the Fat Tire Tours shop at the bottom of the giant TV Tower (Fernsehturm) in Alexanderplatz to the right of the tower's main entrance. The street address is Panoramastr. 1a, 10178 Berlin.
We highly recommend reservations as space is extremely limited. We are happy to take last-minute and walk-up bookings if space is available.
Yes, or no. The best option is to book this experience on the same day as your bike tour as we depart right from the bike shop when you return from tour. Please be aware that our bike tours do return at slightly different times, so you may have a bit of time between returning from tour and starting the VR experience. It’s a great time to enjoy a post-tour drink at the shop and talk with your guides!
We’ve been committed to conducting outstanding Berlin tours with top reviews since 2004. In that time we think we have created some of the best bike and Segway tours in town. As we are always looking for opportunities to deliver the best experiences in Berlin to our guests, we have partnered with some very carefully chosen local partners to offer some of the experiences we do not run on our own.
While “Fat Tire Approved” tours are not operated by Fat Tire Tours, we have carefully selected the tours that meet our high standards, and made sure to partner with other great local operators to make sure you receive the same high Fat Tire quality you expect, every time.
We offer full refunds for cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance of your tour. Just contact us to either cancel or reschedule your booking. We are not able to offer refunds made fewer than 72 hours before your tour.
It’s easy. The tour starts directly at the Fat Tire Tours bike shop in Alexanderplatz. You will just need to sign the disclaimer for the bike and leave some kind of ID, such as a driver’s license or credit card number. The bike is then yours to use not just until the end of the tour, but until the Fat Tire shop closes that night!
Yes! In fact, it is really common for guests to keep their bikes after tours so they can continue exploring, or to just be cool and get around like a local. Once you have checked out your bike you can return it whenever you want. When you book this tour the bike is included until Fat Tire Tours closes for the day. If you keep the bike longer it’s fine - you will just pay the extra rental time whenever you return the bike. It’s that easy!
The meeting point for the tour is at Cafe 9 at the front of Markthalle 9 at the address Eisenbahnstrasse 43, 10997 Berlin. We recommend that you take the train to Görlitzer Park - it’s an easy walk from there. The guide will meet you just inside the cafe on the left-hand right in front of the giant roaster.
We will bike from our Fat Tire Tours shop to the memorial as the ride is not difficult and it’s a great way to see a different side of town, but we will not be biking during the tour. Most of the experience is at the memorial so you won’t need to cycle during the tour.
