CHICAGO DAY BIKE TOUR
Chicago boasts an 18-mile Lakefront Trail for cycling, running and walking and this tour aims to show you what we feel is the best part of it. Starting at our conveniently located South Loop office, we’ll take you on a tour from Grant Park north to Lincoln Park with plenty of stops, stories and photo ops in between.
See eight of Chicago’s most high profile neighborhoods - South Loop, Streeterville, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Old Town, River North, the Loop and Printer’s Row - in addition to both of Chicago’s showpiece parks, Grant Park and Lincoln Park. Cruise along the Lakefront and hear loads of information about Chicago’s history, architecture and culture as well as quirky facts and stories from one of our world class tour guides.
This tour covers the major Chicago sites as well as dipping into the surrounding neighborhoods, often missed by most visitors, for an experience that is unlike anything else we’ve ever offered in our decade-plus in Chicago!
CHICAGO RIVER ARCHITECTURE BOAT TOUR
Cruise down the Chicago River in style and admire the city's breathtaking architecture. Board a Chicago River Architecture Tour with an experienced live guide who will detail the 130 year long story behind the legendary skyline of the Second City.
On board, you will have bartenders and staff keep you comfortable and entertained (cost of drinks/snacks not included). This inclusive tour will navigate through the heart of the Windy City on all three branches of the Chicago River. This 75 minute cruise through the heart of Chicago is a can't-miss for visitors and locals alike!
Due to the river cruise company policies, this package is non-refundable.
The Chicago Bike Tour meets at our office, located at 910 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 130, Chicago, IL 60605, at the south end of Grant Park. Our entrance is located on 9th Street, steps away from the intersection of Michigan Avenue and 9th.
You'll meet at Wendella Boats, located at 400 North Michigan Avenue at the Wrigley Building. You will be directed to the correct dock from there.
Boarding begins about 15 minutes prior to departure and the boat leaves at the time indicated on your ticket, so we suggest arriving 30 minutes prior to your departure time. Boats will not be held past the posted departure time and we cannot issue refunds for those who miss their departure.
While all of our tours maintain a leisurely pace, we want our guests to have fun and be safe, so being able to ride a bike is paramount.
You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We will be riding on bike lanes, through parks, and occasionally with traffic. Riders should be prepared riding single-file behind other riders and riding in a group. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety.
If you're not sure how you'll fare, we invite you to come to our office about 30 minutes prior to your tour start time to try the bikes.

Yes! We have cold water available for purchase in our office before your bike tour.
Unfortunately, 3.5-4 hours does not give us enough time to enter any of the sites that we see on our Chicago Day Bike Tour. This tour is designed to enjoy the city from a broad perspective and come away with a greater understanding of its history and layout.
After your tour, we have lots of information in our office in regards to museum opening times and the best way to see them.
Parking near the Fat Tire Tours office (Bike Tour)
There is a parking garage in Columbia Plaza (the building we are located in). It is operated by PMI Parking. Note the address of the parking garage (2400 Virginia Ave NW) is slightly different than our address (502 23rd St NW), but they are in the same building. There is also street parking available near our office, but be sure to check the meters as they may restrict the parking time to 2 hours. Or, they may not allow parking during certain hours. Though parking is available, we always encourage our guests to use the METRO to avoid street closures, heavy traffic and difficulty finding parking.
Wendella Boats has parking information on their website you can find here.
You will receive two separate emails from Fat Tire Tours. The first will be confirmation of your purchase with us, and the second will be an email with your tickets included. You can either print off your tickets or present them on your mobile device in order to board the boat.
Please note that due to processing times, your tickets may take up to 24 hours to arrive in your inbox. If you have not received an email with your tickets within 24 hours, and have checked your spam box to ensure they did not incorrectly send there, please Contact Us and our team will be happy to help.
Yes, there are drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks available for purchase on board.
All tours run rain or shine. We encourage guests to consult the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
