Get away from the tourist grind and ride with us like a local. Our Munich Night Bike Tour is for the discerning traveler looking for authenticity and real Munich experiences.
This scenic evening ride takes paths through back ways and arcades normally prohibited to bicycle groups, visiting various neighborhoods best loved by the locals.
Join your professional city guide in the early evening, a short while before sunset, and cruise through the town heading toward the clear waters of Munich's Isar River. Together, we'll enjoy the cool evening air as we check out the city's river-island beach culture, admiring the inviting Alpine waters of the Isar that the residents of Munich are so proud of.
From the lofty viewpoint of the parliament house hill, we'll admire the last of the day's sun as it sets over Munich. Then, we'll gather at a group table in one of Munich's famous family-run beer gardens. We'll enjoy brats, pretzels, beer, and other refreshments together as we talk about "Gemütlichkeit", the particular feeling of comfort and good fun that the people of Munich so ardently pursue. This is truly a part of Munich life that is not to be missed.
Relaxing, light on history and full of local culture, our Munich Night Bike Tour is a tour that lives happily alongside our daytime Munich City Bike Tour, and there is very little overlap. To get the full Munich experience, you would do well to book both. Whatever you choose, you're sure to love your experience in Munich with Fat Tire Tours.

While all of our tours maintain a leisurely pace, we want our guests to have fun and be safe, so being able to ride a bike is paramount. Munich is a very bike-friendly city and cars are used to sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians. If you're not sure how you'll fare, feel free to stop by our shop a bit early and take a few practice laps until you are comfortable on the bike.
We believe there is a tour for everyone, therefore each of our bike tours fall into one of the following categories, which you can find identified on the individual tour page:
Leisurely Cycling - Perfect for novice bike riders or those that haven't been on a bike in years. You should have average balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We will be riding on bike lanes, through parks, and occasionally with traffic. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety.
Intermediate Cycling - You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. Riders should be prepared for small hills, riding single-file behind other riders, and riding in a group. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety.
Athletic Cycling - Tours that fall under this category are by no means strenuous, but they cover a greater distance than our other tours and/or spend more time cycling in the roads than our other tours. You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We vary between single-file & group riding. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. We have children join us on tours at this level all the time so it completely depends on your confidence with a bicycle!
No - the bike is included with the bike tour, so just bring yourself and we will take care of the rest!
Generally our tours are great options for families and kids are very welcome, although with the lateness of this tour ending at around 10pm, this might be a very big night for very young children. If you have an older child and still want to see our smaller bike options, you can check them out here.
Our city tours are very casual, with only slight elevation gains, on varying surfaces from smooth gravel to pavement. It is necessary however that any person planning on taking our bike tours to have at least some experience riding, and should be comfortable riding in a group.
Generally all of our tours run rain or shine. If it rains during tour, we do our best to take cover, but sometimes we are exposed to the elements. We have pocket-sized rain ponchos for sale in our shop and we highly recommend that you purchase one before tour. If you don’t use it, we will buy it back from you- it’s a bit of a rain insurance policy! In the case of strongly adverse weather conditions predicted for the tour, we will do our best to contact you and organize a refund or reschedule, depending on what suits you best.
Unfortunately, 3.5 hours does not give us enough time to enter any of the sites that we see on our Munich Evening River Ride. This tour is designed to enjoy the city from a broad perspective and come away with a greater understanding of its history and modern culture. Some people would want to spend only ten minutes in the museum while others would prefer 3 hours.
Additionally, German Law restricts museum guides to their authorized officials.
TIP: Should you want to keep your bike longer, and many people do, you get a discount on rental following a tour. Your guide, and our shop staff, will be happy to show you exactly how to go back to any sites you would like to explore further or visit the interior.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate special requests like this on our public tours. Once the tour begins we ask that you stay with the guide and the group until the end. If you're interested in something shorter, please inquire about a private tour.
