    • Expand/Collapse Where is the meeting point?

      The meeting point for your tour will be verified in your confirmation email. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with the meeting point location or get in touch with our customer service team in advance to ensure a timely arrival for your tour. 


      Our Bike & Segway Tours begin at our office, located at 214 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA 70130. Our office is located in the French Quarter directly across from the House of Blues. (Two blocks off of Canal Street and two blocks off the Mississippi River).

      Our Walking Tours meet at 941 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70116 near the gold statue of Joan of Arc. 

      Our Louisiana Plantation and New Orleans City & Cemetery Tour include hotel pick-up.  

    • Expand/Collapse What is your cancellation policy?

      Cancellations & Refunds 

      We are happy to offer free changes and 100% refunds up to 24 hours before tour departure. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 24 hours prior to scheduled depature may result in forfeited travel funds. Fare difference may apply for activity or schedule changes. Activities including tickets or special entrances may require further notice to be eligible for a full refund. Please see below for specific policies.

      Changes & Rescheduling

      We are happy to modify or change your reservation up to one hour before your activity start time without any rescheduling fees. Any changes are subject to availability, and difference in activity prices may apply.

      Within one hour of the activity start time we likely will not be able to rebook or reschedule your booking, however, please contact our customer support staff directly and we will do our best to accommodate you.

      *Special Restrictions & Exceptions

      Please note the following exceptions to our standard cancellation and rebooking policies in New Orleans:

      • “Fat Tire Approved” activities are operated by partner companies with specific rebooking policies. Please see the “refunds” section of any Fat Tire Approved activity for specific rebooking and rescheduling restrictions. Fat Tire Approved tours can be identified by a red banner towards the top of the tour page.
      • Private Tours must be cancelled or rebooked at least 7 days in advance of the activity start time. Reschedulings are subject to availability.

    • Expand/Collapse Are reservations required?

      Reservations are required for every tour we offer. All walk-up customers will be accommodated in the best possible manner based on guide and equipment availability. Our tours fill to capacity on a regular basis. For this reason we highly suggest making a reservation online or contacting us directly to make a reservation. We don't want to fill our tour and miss showing you around!

    • Expand/Collapse Is there parking available near the office?

      There are several parking lots around the French Quarter. The closest parking lot to our office is located at 111 Iberville St. (corner of Iberville st and N. Peters). Their rate is $30 for up to 8 hours.

    • Expand/Collapse Can minors come on tour alone?

      For safety reasons, minors (anyone under the age of 18) must be accompanied by an adult on the tour.

    • Expand/Collapse If I am pregnant can I join the tour?

      Unfortunately, due to the risk to both child and mother, pregnant women are not allowed to participate on our tours.

    • Expand/Collapse Are your tours offered in any language other than English?

      At this time, our tours are only offered in English.

    • Expand/Collapse Do we go inside the museum and monuments?

      We do not enter the museums and other attractions listed on our tour page as we devote as much time as we can to the tour itself. We will make stops to learn about the museums and other attractions and give you a great orientation of the city so you'll know exactly where you will want to go after the tour.

    • Expand/Collapse Are tours cancelled if it rains?

      No, all of our tours run rain or shine. In the event of rain, guides will have ponchos that are free of charge.

    • Expand/Collapse What time do I need to get there for my tour?

      Bike & Segway Tours

      Your tour will start promptly at the scheduled time, therefore please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure time in order to complete the necessary paperwork.

      Please be aware that we have multiple tours departing throughout the day, therefore if you arrive more than 30 minutes early we may still be working with other guests and not quite ready to welcome you properly.

      Each member of your party will be required to complete and sign a liability waiver form. Minors under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to complete their paperwork.

      Walking Tours

      We ask that guests arrive 20-30 minutes prior to tour time to ensure a timely departure.

      Louisiana Plantation and New Orleans City & Cemetery Tour 

      We ask that guests are ready for pick-up from their hotel 30 minutes prior to the start time of your tour.

    • Expand/Collapse Are bike tours appropriate for children?

      Absolutely! We have tons of families as we're a great family activity. If you have children in your group please make note of it in your reservation. Please include their age and size, as the number of childrens bikes we have is limited.

      For children up to 12 years old or 100lbs (45kg), we have 2 wheeled tandem trailers. The passenger sits on a seat and can pedal or coast. All riders over 100lbs (45kg) must ride their own bicycle. We have various smaller sized mountain bikes for those able to ride on their own.

    • Expand/Collapse Do your tours ride in the streets?

      Yes, we are on city streets for the majority of the tour. Our route takes advantage of streets with bike lanes as much as possible but there are times we will need to share the road with other vehicles. For this reason we reccomend that all riders are confident enough with their biking skills that traffic will not be a problem. Also younger riders must have enough skill to follow in a single file line behind the guide so they are not in danger of veering into traffic.

    • Expand/Collapse Do I have to wear a helmet?

      Yes. Your safety is top priority for us and studies have shown that helmets can reduce head injuries by at least 85%. Therefore, we do require all riders to wear helmets on our tours.

    • Expand/Collapse How big will my group be?

      Our bike tours operate in groups of 10 maximum.

    • Expand/Collapse What is provided with the tour?

      Along with one of our phenomenal tour guides, every guest will recieve a bike, helmet, and a bottle of water. Additional waters are available for purchase in our office for $1.

    • Expand/Collapse How much is a bike rental?

      Rentals are $7/hour per bike. $25 for a 4-hour period. $35 for the entire day. All bikes must be returned by close of the business day.

    • Expand/Collapse When and where do I have to return the rental?

      All bikes must be returned back at our office by close of the shop that day. Between March and November the shop is open till 6:00pm, and between December and February we close at 5:00pm. Bikes arriving after the specified time will be charged for a 24 hour rental.

    • Expand/Collapse What is included with a rental?

      All rentals will receive a bike, helmet, and one lock and key.

    • Expand/Collapse Will I have to leave a deposit to rent a bike?

      When you arrive at our office we will take a digital imprint of a credit card to ensure you return with the bike and that it is in working order. Per the rental agreement you will sign upon arrival, you are responsible for damage or loss of the bike.

    • Expand/Collapse Do I have to wear a helmet if I am renting a bike?

      Bike renters may opt not to wear helmets if they are over 18 years of age, but are asked to sign a waiver stating they have been recommended to wear a helmet at all times by Fat Tire Tours. Your safety is top priority for us and studies have shown that helmets can reduce head injuries by at least 85%.

      This option is only available for those who are NOT taking the tour, but are RENTING the bikes without a guide on an hourly/daily basis.
