• RACHEL'S GUIDE
    TO PARIS

Meet our Free Trip to Paris Winner 2015, Rachel!

When our Win a Trip to Paris 2015 winner Rachel found out she was going to Paris for free, she knew exactly who her lucky guest would be. Her mother Gail had dreamed of visiting the City of Light since taking French lessons in high school, and we feel so fortunate to have helped provide such incredible memories for this pair! While in Paris, we let Rachel take the reins on our Instagram account to document every day of their first trip to France.

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel, and I’ll be your tour guide for Paris over the next week. (Still pinching myself!) The only thing better than receiving word that by the grace of God I had won this trip, was getting to call my mom immediately after, and tell her I’m taking her to her dream city. She’s still screaming 😉 This will be the mother-daughter trip of a lifetime, and I hope you enjoy following our adventures as we take in France for the very first time. We are about to board our plane, so see you tomorrow, from Paris! ✈️🇫🇷

Day 1

Hi everyone! Rachel here. Mom and I made it safe and sound, and despite not sleeping much on the overnight flights, we couldn't wait to get out and explore La Ville Lumière - the City of Light. To say it's taking our breath away, would be an understatement.

Day 2

Today was a big day. Two tours, lots of walking + biking, getting to experience the Eiffel Tower from the summit, and a dream (since high school!) come true for Mom. The Fat Tire team is blowing me away. Detailed, fun, and not to mention knowledgable about their city's history.

Day 3

Today was Victory Day, celebrating the anniversary of the end of World War II and the freedom of France! Due to the holiday, Champs-Élysées was closed off to motor vehicles, and overtaken by happy pedestrians + bicyclists. What a fun day to be in Paris!

Day 4

We walked around Montmartre today - it has a beautiful overview of the city, just outside of Sacré-Cœur. Then we were able to join the Night Bike tour - it was SO fun! Our tour group ended the evening all together on a river cruise, and viewed the Eiffel Tower sparkling while rain lightly sprinkled on us. It felt like we were in a movie.

Day 5

Walking past this each day + evening this week has certainly not lost its wonder! Even if I lived here, I'd wager it would take a very, very long time for me to not stop to stare at Tour Eiffel.

Day 6

Thanks to Juan Carlos' recommendation at the Fat Tire Tours office, we took an evening to see Rue Cler. It is one of the coolest streets, full of great places to eat and shop! ALSO. Did you know that it's easy to figure out which arrondissement you're in while out and about? It's listed on each street sign at the very top. That trick has come in handy with all our exploring this week!

Day 7

Our last tour with the team was Versailles Chateau and Gardens walking tour. MAN! The grounds were beautiful! There was so much detail to take in with each grove, garden, not to mention the interior of the chateau. Each room told a different story. Definitely worth the trek just outside of the city!

Day 8

Paris, you were wonderful. I can't imagine a better first trip to France. THANK YOU to the Fat Tire team for an incredible week. Seeing a new city by bicycle with people who truly know and love their city's history, made a magical city that much better for a history nerd like me. I can't wait to come back! In the meantime, I'll have to suffice by looking through my hundreds of photos. ☺️❤️🇫🇷
