Visit Oxford University *Chaperone Only*

Wednesday March 7th 2018

Founded in the same year Pope Urban II launched the First Crusade, Oxford University is the second oldest university in the world. Oxford boasts some of the greatest scholarship and most beautiful collegiate architecture in the world. Its Bodlein Library is one of the oldest libraries in the world and the second largest in Britain after the British Library.

Visitors will have the opportunity to wander the grounds of some of the oldest colleges in the world, such as Magdalen, Christ Church and Balliol. In addition to the university, Oxford is also the home of the Inklings, the extremely influential writer’s group made up of, among others, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. This group met at the Eagle and Child Pub where they discussed the prototype versions of works such as The Lord of the Rings, and Out of the Silent Planet. Students will be inspired and relaxed through their encounter with the “city of dreaming spires”.
