After a short train ride to Versailles, you will spend the morning learning the history of the palace while walking in the beautiful Royal Gardens, your tour timed perfectly to catch the fountain show. Then your guide will lead you to the Grand Canal for some free time where you can have a picnic lunch or visit the local palace café (cost of lunch not included). Following lunch, we will skip the line to the world famous Palace of Versailles through a special side entrance.
You will explore the fascinating history of life at the royal court with just our small group and Versailles-licensed guide. While other hallways in the museum are crowded with thousands of tourists, you will enjoy the serenity of being in the King & Queen's private residence including Louis XVI's library, the royal dining hall, the chapel or the opera house, and the luxurious private game room. This area is past the velvet rope line and is inaccessible to the general public. Of course, you don’t want to miss the Hall of Mirrors! This tour includes access to the public sections of the palace, which you can explore at your own pace following the private royal apartments.

No, this tour concentrates on the formal gardens directly behind the palace so that we can enjoy the fountain show as much as possible. We then spend our afternoon enjoying the sumptuous interior of the chateau.

We would love to work with you in reserving an entry time for your group in Versailles. There are several options to consider and we ask that you contact us directly for more details.
Apart from the train ride to Versailles and an hour for lunch, you will be spending most of your time on the tour on your feet. The gardens of Versailles are a highlight of the visit and we will be strolling through as many of the best sections as possible in the morning section of the tour. In the afternoon you will be touring the palace where there are very limited opportunities to sit down. For this reason we recommend you wear appropriate footwear and that you are comfortable walking 8kms/5miles over the course of the tour.
If you would like to book a larger group, please contact our Private Tours team at [email protected].
