No trip to San Francisco would be complete without a trip across the bay and into the world-renowned wine country of North California. Your day will begin in downtown San Francisco where you'll meet your guide, drive, and a private vehicle ready to show you the vineyards and wineries of Napa and Sonoma. As you leave the city, your guide will tell you about the historical events and agricultural peculiarities that turned two sleepy valleys into one of the world's leading wine regions.
After leaving the bustling city behind, you'll first stop at a small, family-run winery in the scenic Dry Creek Valley region of Sonoma Valley. Here you'll be transported back to a time where the area was still just sparsely populated with small farms. Here, you'll look into a cave and sample five different vintages along with light bites as you take in panoramic views of the Sonoma countryside.
As we depart the small Dry Creek Valley, we'll stop at an artisanal deli which specializes in locally produced food to get some lunch, which you’ll purchase on your own. You'll have your choice of salads and sandwiches made fresh from locally grown ingredients. With lunch in hand, you'll picnic at a nearby winery with a glass (or two) of Zinfandel produced from the valley's premier grape.
Following lunch, you'll venture to Napa Valley for the final winery of the day. This is a less well-known jewel tucked away along the hillside surrounded by some of the region's most famous vineyards. Here, you'll receive a full tour of the winery where you'll learn all about the wine making process as well as a sample of five of their most characteristic wines.
After a full day amongst the iconic Northern California landscape filled with good wine and good times, you'll drive back to San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge. Your guide will be ready and available to help with restaurant recommendations for dinner and any other tips you need for the rest of your time in the City by the Bay.
Note: There are opportunities to purchase bottles of wine throughout the tour and your guide will be able to help facilitate these purchases and give you the best options for transporting them home.
