Take a journey back in time outside of D.C. to the beautiful estate of America's first President: Mount Vernon. Your general admission entrance ticket offers the opportunity to explore the estate at your own pace, with access to the gardens, the museum and education center, a working blacksmith shop, and stunning panoramic views of the Potomac River.
See original historic objects, including George Washington's famous dentures and the reconstructed gristmill (open April through October). In the 4D theater onsite, you can watch the American Revolution come to life and imagine what life was like when the Washingtons called this estate home.
This tour option enhances your visit to Mount Vernon with a 45-minute sightseeing cruise of the Potomac. See stunning views of the estate from the water and learn more about Washington’s fishing enterprises. Tours depart regularly throughout the day, April through August, and on select weekends in September and October.
Please note that the Mt. Vernon Mansion will be undergoing some renovation through this year. This will not affect your access to the Mansion or its grounds, but there may be some scaffolding on the Mansion during your visit.

Take the D.C. Metro Yellow Line to Huntington Station. Exit at the lower level of the station (Huntington Avenue) to catch a Fairfax Connector bus to Mount Vernon. Board the Fairfax Connector Bus #101, the Fort Hunt Line, for a 20-minute trip to Mount Vernon's entrance gate.

There are a few options for eating at Mount Vernon, and please note that outside food or drinks are not allowed other than bottled water.
There is a food court located near the entrance of Mount Vernon serving breakfast, coffee, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, vegetarian options, salads, and desserts.
There is also a nice restaurant located inside the Mount Vernon Inn, which you can make a reservation at here.
Strollers are allowed at Mount Vernon, with the exception of inside the mansion.
The first floor of the mansion is wheelchair accessible.
The Ford Orientation Center, Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center and Mount Vernon Inn complex are wheelchair accessible and there there is an accessible path linking the buildings. Please note that there may be small sections of uneven pavement.
Standard, non-motorized wheelchairs and wheeled walkers are available free of charge inside the Ford Orientation Center.
