Update: Partially Closed Pergamon Museum

Berlin has so many world class museums, but undoubtedly at the top of list has to be the Pergamon Museum. With its collection of finds from ancient Persia and Islamic Art, it’s not to be missed. Most famous is the massive Pergamon Altar, as well as the Ischtar Gate and Processional Way from Babylon.

Due to an extensive restoration project, starting Sunday, September 28th until 2020 (!!) parts of the museum will be closed. The first area to be impacted will unfortunately be the wing housing the Pergamon Altar. So, if you’re contemplating a visit to Berlin that incorporates the Pergamon Museum, jump on it now!

Keep in mind as well that the last weekend of September when the Pergamon Museum will be closing down one of its wings, is also the Berlin Marathon weekend. It’s a great time to be in the city with the atmosphere very positive. It may though be a bit harder than normal to find accommodation.
