The Best Ice Cream in Paris
Yes, the weather is heating up, the coats are coming off, and the sunglasses are coming out. And where you have sunny days and strolls along the Seine, you’re going to need…
…ice cream, obviously!
And while we may not be in Italy, home of the gelato, don’t let yourself settle for the tourist traps: Paris has some truly delicious ice cream parlors! Here are six of our favorites to whet your appetite…
Berthillon
You’ll laugh, but it’s not a joke…the famous Berthillon ice cream parlor and tea room is actually closed during the summer (so French)! But for the rest of the year, you’ll see people queuing – sometimes round the block – for a scoop, or two, of their luxury ice cream. This is where we stop on our Paris Night Bike Tour. Many customers will say that riding their bike to the world’s most famous ice cream shop is one of the highlights of the tour.

Grom
Have you seen the Grom boutiques in the States? Launched in 2003 by a couple of Italians, Grom has seen rapid success and now has parlors all over the world. Not only are their flavors delicious, but they’re also known for their food-intolerance-friendly options.

Raimo
The owners of this French “Glacier traditionnel” (traditional ice cream maker) still use the same recipes from the 19th century, sticking to natural seasonal ingredients. They’ve just opened a tea parlor in their flagship boutique in the 12th arrondissement.

Le Bac à Glaces
So popular that you need to get here before the lunch crowd or there won’t be much left, the Bac à Glaces is a firm Parisian ice cream favorite, located in the ultra chic 7th arrondissement. The “Palette Dégustation” with six different flavors is a great idea if you can’t choose!

Il Gelato del Marchese
A charming (and gilded) ice cream parlor near the Luxembourg Gardens. You may purchase your ice cream for takeaway or you can opt for the lovely tea room inside and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their gelato is 100% natural and prepared on site by the Italian ice cream master.

Une Glace a Paris
Boasting an owner with the title “Meilleur Ouvrier de France – Glacier” (essentially, best iced-dessert maker), how could you resist Une Glace a Paris? With no less than three flavors of vanilla and such delectable combinations as orange, carrot and ginger; black cherry and jasmin tea; and baba au rhum (rum cake) there’s an ice cold treat for everyone at these two boutiques, located in the Marais and Montmartre districts.
