Barcelona in a Day: Sagrada Família, Casa Milà & Gothic Quarter Walking Tour

This full day walking tour of Barcelona distills the finest elements of the culture, cuisine, history, and architecture of Barcelona into a single, unforgettable day that will immerse you in the life of the city, past and present. From the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter to the airy splendor of the Sagrada Família and Gaudí's most famous houses, we cover more of the city than any other tour.

Your day begins on the steps of the Sagrada Família where you'll meet your expert guide. We'll take a stroll around to see the various facades of the Sagrada Família and learn why they look so different. Next, you'll skip the long lines with priority entrance tickets. As you tour the interior, your guide will tell you about Gaudí's extraordinary life story and point out the elements and details that will give you a deep insight into the mind of one of the most unique geniuses of the 20th century.

For the next part of your tour, you'll hop on a subway to get across town. Your guide will show you the Casa Batlló, the Casa Amatller, and the Casa Lleó Morera. These are three of the most unique buildings in the world, created for wealthy families who were all trying to outdo each other. After understanding the details behind these facades, we will enter the Casa Milà (La Pedrera) to explore its stunning interior. No tour is complete without stepping onto the roof, which is arguably the best in Barcelona.

After lunch, it's time for a stroll through Barcelona's Gothic Quarter to learn about the history of the city. You'll also step inside the Barcelona Cathedral to enjoy a bit of gothic architecture before using a special access ticket to get up onto the roof for a lovely panorama.

After a stroll down Barcelona's iconic pedestrian street, La Rambla, we arrive at the city's favorite market, La Boquería. Here you’ll explore the stalls overflowing with local meats, cheeses and other produce and you’ll learn what’s in season during your visit, and why Catalonia is considered one of the most fertile regions in Spain.

The tour ends with a ham tasting at a local jamón shop, where you’ll learn that, next to soccer, meat curing is probably the most beloved national activity of Spain. You’ll also learn about the incredibly elaborate process, from feeding the pigs, to curing the meat, that creates one of the most prized foods in the world. The best part, of course, is the tasting. If you’ve never tasted Iberian ham, this will be a highlight of your trip, if you have, it’s a chance to learn how to tell the merely good from the amazing.
