The Best Bars in Kreuzberg, Berlin

Berlin is a BIG city and sometimes it can be a little overwhelming where to start. So many choices, such little time. Where to eat, where to drink, where to sleep and where to party?  I have compiled a list of the best places (according to us!) on where to eat and drink once our tours have finished.

Where to drink in…..Kreuzberg

Das Hotel

Berlin is full of artists and this is one of their local haunts. At this dimly lit bar pull up a pew at old pianos as tables, enjoy the candle light and the cheap beers. This tiny bar has a downstairs basement too and both places play music, upstairs its singer/songwriters and downstairs its bigger bands. This is definitely a bar to take someone if you are trying to impress.

Schwarze Traube

The big bearded owner and bartender has become a bit of a local legend fulfilling his dream to own a bar in the neighbourhood he grew up in. His dream was finally realised in 2013 when he won the World class bartender of the year award.

To enter the bar you must knock on the door and then you will be invited into a room divided into 3, all of which are decorated to the finest detail. There is no menu here, the waiter will take down a list of flavours that you like and the skilled barman will create your own perfect cocktail heaven.

Luzia

Situated on trendy Oranienstrasse this is probably the streets best bar. It boasts an outdoor terrace that overlooks the always bustling street. Inside, the large industrial space is filled with velvet armchairs, mismatched tables and beautiful vintage wallpaper that in places has ripped off to reveal rustic red bricks. This bar is a must any night of the week if you are drinking in Kreuzberg. The place oozes cool.

Barbie Deinhoff’s

It’s safe to say that Barbie Deinhoff’s attracts people of all backgrounds. From glossy red-lipped cross-dressers to local artists Berliners come here to enjoy the often raucous atmosphere and often cheap prices . The bar is run by celebrity drag queen Lena Braun and this bright pink Barbie-themed bar remains one of Berlin’s top spots for a fun and slightly debauchery-filled evening. There’s also a 2-for-1 happy hour everyday from 6pm-9pm on weeknights and from 4pm on weekends.
