Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Paris is something people around the world dream about. Be warned: the popularity of this iconic spot has pushed prices up into near fantasy – at press time, tickets were going for a measly 1,066 dollars.

What better way to enjoy the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower than from the seat of a riverboat? As you coast along the Seine river, you’ll be treated to dinner and champagne, with some cruise operators offering musical entertainment to boot. As you wish one another “Happy New Year,” you’ll enjoy such magical Paris sights as Notre Dame Cathedral, the Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre museum.
