The Fête de la Gastronomie in Paris

If you’re feeling hungry, it might not be a good idea to read this article… From September 26-28, France is celebrating the annual “Fête de la Gastronomie” (Festival of haute cuisine). Trust the French to dedicate a whole weekend to fine food! If you happen to be in Paris at this time, here is a selection of just a few of the events going on in the capital city. Cutlery ready? À table!

Guest goes free!

From September 22-28, thousands of Paris’ best restaurants are participating in “Votre invité est notre invité” (your guest is our guest) and offering 50% reductions off their menus! Reservations open on September 17, but be quick because tables get snapped up at lightening speed! Have a look to see which restaurants are participating here.

See How it’s Done

In partnership with the town hall of the 19th arrondissement, the CEPROC (Centre européen des Professions Culinaires) is organizing several “démonstration-degustation” (demonstration-tastings) on a variety of culinary specialties: from cooking techniques to patisseries, baked goods and dried meats.

Vegetarians

Poor vegetarians in France, you don’t always have the easiest of lives. However, Paris’ attitude towards vegetarians and vegans is slowly changing – with the help of the Irish! What do I mean? For the Fête de la Gastronomie, the Irish Cultural Center is playing host to “The Hare”, a pop-up vegetarian community café. There will also be concerts, workshops and presentations.

September 27 – 28, Irish Cultural Center, 5 rue des Irlandais

DO play with your food!

Want to know what “gastroludique” means? Book a table at the Restaurant du Marché in Paris’ 15th arrondissement and learn how to have fun with your food! The team from “On ne joue pas à table” have come up with a variety of entertaining ways to make dinner even more enjoyable. Check their website for more details.
