Take a Day Trip to the Loire Valley Castles with our Guided Tour

Marvel at three of the Loire Valley's most famous châteaux on our full-day trip from Paris. Kick the day off at the one of the largest in the Loire Valley in the midst of a massive forest, Chambord. Built for King Francis I in the 16th century in classic Renaissance style, this château features panoramic terraces, countless chimneys, and a magnificent doube helix staircase. Hear stories about this historic château deriving from the Middle Ages, through the French Revolution, and during World War II. The next stop on our tour is the fairytale-like Château de Chenonceau, nicknamed "the ladies' castle" due to the numerous well-known aristocratic French women who have called this stunning château stretching over the River Cher home. A few of its sophisticated former residents include Catherine de Medici, Diane de Poitiers, and the White Queen, Louise de Lorraine.

Our final visit of the day brings us to Château de Cheverny, unless you are with us on a Monday or Saturday in the summer (April 1 through October 31), in which case this tour concludes with Château d'Amboise. Both are stunning châteaux rich in history, which will round out your great day in the Loire Valley.

Loire Valley Castles Day Trip Reviews

Loire Valley Castles Day Trip   is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 Castles and a bus ride! Haha... ParisVision is the company used, meeting near the Louvre went smoothly. Get there FIRST to sit on top deck first seat to get a view. Other than the first seat, (which we didn't get) it was kind of a brutal trip. The seats have plug ins to charge your phone, that's a plus. FYI no restrooms at ParisVision but one at each castle...the traffic coming back was so long.. we could have stayed just another half hour at each castle (and not be running toward the bus!) and then come back to Paris when traffic dies down a little in a few hours... we have been home around the same time....it made no sense to just spend 2 hours at each castle because you do have to fit in a lunch (unless you take your own and eat on the run!) Another fault of the tour is that when you book with Fat Tire or ParisVision, they could offer you brochures of the castles. Of course you could google them all on the bus but some people are sleeping! We got the brochures at each castle, but there is barely enough time to read them because the guide is rushing you through so quickly! Of we enjoyed the tour but I'm afraid I just wouldn't recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trip! The Loire Valley Castles Tour with PARISCityVISION, which took us to three castles: Chambord, Chenonceau, and Cheverny, was exceptionally well presented. Our guide was well-informed and provided just the right amount of information at each stop. We especially enjoyed hearing not only the standard traditional history, but also many of the sordid details – especially about Henry II. After giving an overview of each castle, our guide described the details of the rooms we toured. She also provided commentary on other castles we could see as we travelled by on the bus. The cafeteria right next to the castle at Chenonceau provided an excellent selection of dishes which even satisfied the one of us who is a fussy vegetarian eater. We found the walking to be not too strenuous for us seventy year olds. The bus was comfortable, modern, and clean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware of this tour This tour is offered by ParisVision Tours. They left my family and I stranded after the second stop. The guide (Lorene sp?) was walking far ahead of the rest of the group and we could hardly hear her. We thought she said to meet at 4:40pm but she apparently said 3:40pm. It was difficult to hear her since there was so much static on the speakers due to her not waiting for the entire group. When we were not at the meet up point no one called us even though they have my phone number, they simply left. It took my family (four of us, including a ten year old and a 2 month old baby) 4 hours to get back to Paris and cost us over $100 euro. ParisVision offered their apologies but no refund. FatTire Tours, however, was wonderful by being understanding of my complaint and offering a full refund. I would not purchase anything that is offered through ParisVision Tours again.
