Experience the Small Group Bordeaux Day Trip with Wine Tastings

This VIP day trip is a feast for the senses, immersing you in the sights, smells, and especially the tastes of Bordeaux, one of the most renown wine regions of France. You'll visit the charming town of Saint-Émilion, learn plenty about wine-making, try eight different varieties of local wine, and even stop by a scent garden to explore the aromas found in many red and white wines. There is no better way for devoted wine lovers and foodies to spend a day in the French countryside.

We meet early, near the Montparnasse train station, where you will meet your expert guide and catch the first high-speed train of the day to Bordeaux. In just two hours, you'll arrive in the city of Bordeaux and be transported by private transfer to the stunning village of Saint-Émilion. Once there, you’ll enjoy a full tour of this historic town; a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After getting an introduction to the different types of wines produced in the region, you’ll head down into an ancient cellar to taste some of the wines you have just learned about and enjoy a scrumptious Bordeaux macaron, which is slightly different to its Parisian cousin.

Next, we'll head to a nearby chateau; just a twenty-minute ride away through the lovely, rolling countryside. Here you’ll take a full tour of the vineyard and also learn how the climate and geology of the region come together to create famously robust red wines. You’ll also pop into the chateau’s scent garden to test your palate on edible plants and get a little teaser of some of the tastes hidden in the wines. Finally, you'll head to the chateau’s old tower for another wine tasting.

Before you leave, you’ll sit down for lunch on a terrace overlooking the vineyards. The menu changes seasonally, but think local meat and produce; fresh, natural ingredients; and of course, another glass of wine. After this lovely lunch, we'll head to a much smaller, family operated vineyard, which also has some of the oldest grape vines in Bordeaux.

After a tour of the winery, you’ll taste a wine that’s still aging so you can understand how its flavor changes throughout the process, then two different white wines, one made from some of the oldest wines in France.

After all this food and drink, you’ll probably want a nap. Luckily, it’s time to head back to the Bordeaux train station, where you’ll catch the train back to Paris.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tour! Hugo was AMAZING! So helpful in telling us about the history of Bordeaux, guiding us to the best spots, and even recommending places to eat and drink in Paris. He was on time, easy to find, he took care of every last detail, and I didn’t have to think at all (big plus when I’m on vacation). We toured lovely destinations, the lunch was delicious, and the driver was very friendly. Highly recommend! :)
