Aquatic Park

The Aquatic Park Historic District is a National Historic Landmark situated on the shores of San Francisco Bay inside of the Maritime National Historical Park.

This district is home to a beach, an old bathhouse, municipal pier, restrooms, concessions, and the famous Hyde Street Pier. Hyde Street Pier was the principal ferry terminal for automobiles before the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. Today it’s home of the world’s largest collection of historic ships, America’s only “floating” National Maritime Historic Park.

There’s a sandy beach and plenty of grass in this picturesque cove, making this an excellent place to spend a relaxing sunny day or a stunning California sunset, taking in the views of the busy harbor and watching the boats float alongside the docks. The fantastic views from the long curved pier are not to be missed if you get a chance to walk out on it! It’s also a popular place for open water swimmers due to its typically calm and cool water. If you’re lucky, you’ll even spot a few seals out in the water!
