Frequently Asked Questions

  • Expand/Collapse General Tour FAQ
    • Expand/Collapse Are reservations required?

Reservations are required for every tour we offer except our Paris Day Bike Tour and Paris Night Bike Tour. However, we do strongly recommend reservations for those two tours and cannot guarantee spots for walk-ups.

During the summer months of June, July and August we occasionally sell out of bikes and always give priority to those that have reserved in advance - especially if you are traveling with children who require smaller bikes, we want to be sure we have the requested number and type of bikes ready for you.

We release availability for our Eiffel Tower tours 90 days prior to tour date, and these tours often sell out in advance. If you would like to join us on the Eiffel Tower, we highly recommend booking well in advance.

    • Expand/Collapse How do I make a reservation?

Reservations for all tours can be made on our website by clicking here and selecting the tour(s) of your choice.

You can also call our Customer Service team and book your tour over the phone:

      • North America Toll-Free
        • +1.866.614.6218
      • Paris Telephone
        • +33.1.82.88.80.96

If you decide to not make a reservation in advance, you may pay with cash or credit card on the day of the tour, subject to availability. In the event of too many walk-up guests we will always offer priority to those who have reserved in advance. This happens more frequently from June to August and highly recommend booking in advance during these months.

If you have children that will need smaller bikes, please read the Bike Options FAQ below and select which bike would be best for your child when adding a tour to your cart.

    • Expand/Collapse Are the bike tours appropriate for children?

Absolutely! We have loads of families join us and we're a great family activity. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the tour. It is necessary however that any person planning on taking our bike tours to have at least some experience riding, and should be comfortable riding in a group.

Please note that certain tours require children to be more confident on a bicycle, and you can find information regarding skill level guidelines in the FAQ section of individual tour pages.

We offer multiple bike options for children depending on their age, size, and riding ability. You can view our bikes here:

      • For children up to 12 years old or 45kg (100lbs) without good bike handling skills we offer 2-wheeled tandems that allow the passenger to pedal or coast, without having to maintain a high level of balance. All riders over 45kg (100lbs) must ride their own bicycle. We have various sized city bikes to accommodate just about every size of rider, from extra small 20” wheeled bikes for riders that are 3.3ft (100cm) to extra large for riders up to 6.5ft (198cm). Unfortunately, we do not have adult tricycles, adult tandems, or bikes with training wheels for adults or children that have balancing issues, or that may be less confident in their riding ability.
      • Trailers and Tandems are the same price as bikes, where as baby-seats are free. Due to limited availability please book baby seats, trailers, tandems, 20” and 24” wheeled bikes in advance.
      • Please Note: All extra-small 20 inch and small 24inch bikes are equipped with both hand brakes and pedal brakes.

  • Expand/Collapse Bike Tour FAQ
    • Expand/Collapse I haven't been on a bike in years, is biking in Paris difficult?

While all of our tours maintain a leisurely pace, we want our guests to have fun and be safe, so being able to ride a bike is paramount. Paris is a very bike-friendly city and cars are used to sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians.

We believe there is a tour for everyone, therefore each of our bike tours fall into one of the following categories, which you can find identified on the individual tour page:

Leisurely Cycling - Perfect for novice bike riders or those that haven't been on a bike in years. You should have average balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We will be riding on bike lanes, through parks, and occasionally with traffic. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. If you're not sure how you'll fare, we invite you to come to our office about 30 minutes prior to your tour start time to try the bikes.

Intermediate Cycling - You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. Riders should be prepared for small hills, riding single-file behind other riders, and riding in a group. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. If you're not sure how you'll fare, we invite you to try our Paris Day Bike tour first.

Athletic Cycling - Tours that fall under this category are by no means strenuous, but they cover a greater distance than our other tours and/or spend more time cycling in the roads than our other tours. You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We vary between single-file & group riding. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. We have children join us on tours at this level all the time so it completely depends on your confidence with a bicycle! If you're not sure how you'll fare with this level, we invite you to try our Paris Night Bike tour first.

    • Expand/Collapse What do we see on the bike tours?

A lot! On our Paris bike tours, we’ll highlight the most well-known museums and monuments, point out the best picnic spots, and cruise through popular neighborhoods. We try to include as much as possible so that you can go back to your favorite sites after the tour! Our Off the Beaten Path Bike Tour does exactly that - explores the non-tourist parks, canals, and local Parisian hangouts in the 19th arrondisment.

Our Versailles, Monet’s Garden, and Loire Valley Bike Tour delve into the history of France, be it the kings or the artists, and spend the whole day riding through these beautiful villages and towns!

For our Versailles Bike and Monet Gardens Bike Tour, this ensures that we depart Paris in a timely manner. We do not have the luxury of waiting for guests who are running late, or catching them up after the fact.

    • Expand/Collapse How strenuous is the Segway tour? Are they difficult to ride?

We’ve found that our guests pick up on how to ride a Segway within the first 10 minutes, but we like to take 20-30 minutes to explain the machines, demonstrate the best riding techniques, and then allow time to practice before heading out to see the sites. We like to ensure that every guest feels 100% confident before beginning the tour. While riding a Segway is fairly leisurely, you will be on your feet for the duration of the tour.

    • Expand/Collapse Do you offer private tours in languages besides English?

Yes! We would be happy to accommodate your request, given we have a tour guide that speaks the language of your choice.

    • Expand/Collapse What’s included on a private tour?

Virtually anything you’d like! We will include all necessary equipment (i.e. bikes, helmets, tickets, etc.) for your tour, transportation costs (for any of our tours outside of Paris), and a knowledgeable guide. Lunch/dinner is usually not included unless specified. We also have many bespoke options to choose from, which you can see more details about on our Private Tours page

    • Expand/Collapse How much is a private tour?

All of our private tour requests are individually analyzed by our private tours department, and quotes are given based on a number of factors including tour guide availability, booking time, season, ticket availability, bike/Segway availability (if applicable), and group size.

Custom-built tours or smaller private group tours will usually cost more than our public tours given the planning time, any special requirements or requests our guests may have, and the privatization of one or a few of our tour guides.
