Exit the train station at Versailles Château Rive Gauche (several stations say “Versailles” make sure it’s this one), and walk into McDonalds. Does the tour include transportation to Versailles?

No, our half-day tour does not include transportation to Versailles.

Your tour will end in Versailles with your timed entry into the chateau, at which point your guide will provide you with your train tickets and directions back to the train station, about a 10-minute walk from the chateau. This allows you the freedom to explore the palace and the formal gardens at your own pace and return to Paris whenever you’d like. Trains run approximately every 25 minutes and all trains lead to Paris. We also recommended purchasing your return ticket to Paris in advance to avoid big ticket lines when heading back to Paris.

What is the difference between the half-day and full-day Versailles tour?

The Half-Day Versailles Tour and the Full-Day Versailles Tour offer distinct experiences to suit different schedules and interests. The Half-Day Tour meets directly in Versailles, making it a convenient choice for those already in the area. Starting in the afternoon, it focuses on key highlights, including the stunning palace gardens, the Petite Trianon, and Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet. This tour does not include lunch, allowing you to keep the experience short and focused.

In contrast, the Full-Day Tour begins in Paris, with transportation provided to Versailles, making it ideal for those who prefer a seamless start to their day. This immersive experience includes a visit to the Versailles market, where you’ll gather provisions for a picnic lunch enjoyed on the palace grounds. In addition to the gardens and the Petite Trianon, the Full-Day Tour also includes access to the Grand Trianon, offering a more comprehensive exploration of Versailles. If you’re looking for a deeper dive into Versailles’ history and ambiance, the Full-Day Tour is the perfect choice, while the Half-Day Tour provides a shorter, yet equally enchanting visit.
